Funding & Transparency
Built by history. Sustained by heart.
The Klamath County Event Center has grown far beyond its roots. What began in 1902 as a home for the annual county fair now serves as a cornerstone for our region, welcoming more than 400,000 visitors across 413 events annually.
Thanks to voter-approved investments and smart long-term planning, we now operate one of the largest indoor event centers in the Pacific Northwest a 93,000 sq ft facility built in 2000 with a $4.5 million bond supported by the citizens of Klamath County.
But today, something truly unique sets us apart:
We operate without receiving a single cent from Klamath County taxpayer dollars.
That’s right, none of your local taxes go toward the operations or events held here.
Instead, our funding is built from a variety of sources, and recently, many of those have been significantly reduced:
Current Funding Breakdown (FY 2023–2024):
- 8% Rental Income
From RV rentals and venue bookings – $439,238.41
(Previously 15% – a cut of over $110,000)
- 23% Transient Room Tax (TRT)
From overnight stays in local hotels – $1,360,533.93
(Previously 63% – down more than $1.3 million)
- 1% State Lottery Funds
Oregon State support for all county fairs (equal across counties)
- 12% Fair Income
From ticket sales, vendors, RV parking, alcohol sales – $702,954.47
(Previously 19% – another sharp drop)
- 56% Grants & Miscellaneous Support
Grants are variable, non-permanent funds that depend on eligibility and availability.
How We Use Support Wisely
Even with reduced funding, we’ve prioritized innovation and reinvestment. Most recently, grant funds helped us develop a brand-new RV Park and Food Court, both of which create long-term revenue and better experiences for visitors.
These improvements were made without ever asking for more from the taxpayer and that’s the way we want to keep it.
Why We Need Your Support
We’re a community resource. A place where education, agriculture, fun, and local pride meet. We’ve grown, adapted, and overcome. But with rising costs and reduced revenue, it takes a community to help us continue providing what we’ve always promised: a safe, modern space for all.
If you love the events, concerts, and gatherings that happen here, your support makes the difference.
Support Local. Celebrate Local. Stay Local.
Every visit, every vendor, every share on social media helps keep the Klamath County Event Center thriving.
Join us in keeping Klamath strong, because this space belongs to all of us.
